I do things, primarily on the Internet. Here are some of them:

3DS modding

I've been pretty directly involved in the 3DS homebrew/modding scene since around early 2017 (over nine years!), primarily by helping people mod their consoles over at Nintendo Homebrew on Discord. To that end, I've been helping to maintain the main community text guide, 3ds.hacks.guide, since around late 2020. If you've used the guide (or even followed a YouTube guide!) to mod your 3DS in the past few years, chances are you've been following instructions I've written or contributed to! I hope you've had as much fun modding your console(s) as I've had in writing documentation that's hopefully surprisingly easy to follow. :)

My Little Pony

If you couldn't already tell from my online presence, I'm a fan of My Little Pony (or brony, or pegasister, or whatever you want to call people in the fandom). You can usually find me at conventions and meetups throughout the US and Europe, often in the games room playing or hosting pony karaoke if it's available. Beyond that, I also consume a fair bit of fandom content, primarily music and fanfic.

Karaoke

I also like to do karaoke, both inside and outside of the context of My Little Pony:

  • I chart My Little Pony show/fandom songs for My Little Karaoke, a song pack and theme for UltraStar Deluxe consisting of over 800 show and fandom songs
  • I help with My Little Karaoke setups at conventions or meetups I attend by:
    • Hosting karaoke myself, with my own microphones and other equipment
    • Helping to manage the song queue, helped by knowledge of the full song list
    • Providing resources, such as unreleased songs (primarily from my repository, updated song lists, updated programs, configuration assistance...
  • I upload the (relatively few) non-pony songs I chart to USDB, the main community resource for UltraStar TXT charts

Rhythm games

I like to play rhythm games, usually at the arcade! These days I normally play Ongeki, Chunithm, pop'n music and Polaris Chord, but I find most games relatively fun.

Once upon a time, I played arcade Groove Coaster quite competitively, but not so much since the end of service.

Typing

Recently, I've gotten into semi-competitive typing. I practice primarily on TypeGG.

General statistics:

  • Top 10 world (among TypeGG users); #1 in Canada (technically)
    • 37,000 pp (ppv0.8)
  • Speed:
    • ~170 WPM on sustained (10,000 character) endurance quotes
    • ~190 "normalized WPM" (adjusted for quote difficulty)
    • ~200 WPM peak on random-word tests (1 minute)

Public transit / smartcard collecting

I'm a fan of taking public transit wherever I go, and also of collecting public transportation smart cards ("IC cards") as a memento/souvenir of the places I visit. To date, I've collected over a hundred cards, most of them from Japan.
